Liberia threatens to dismiss primary school teachers

Liberia’s government is threatening to fire most primary school teachers and hand over the running of public schools to the private sector.

The government says there are hundreds of primary schools where teachers are not turning up for class.

Liberian teachers are some of the lowest paid in the world, earning just under $100 on a good month.

Al Jazeera’s Nicolas Haque reports from the capital Monrovia.
