Ghana: COVID-19 Claims 31 Lives As Caseload Rises to 5,918

31 Ghanaians have so far succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) since its outbreak in the country on 11th March 2020.

The Ghana Health Service’s latest update on Tuesday May 19, 2020 which announced this explained that two patient have died from the disease increasing the toll to 31 as of today.

It also revealed that country’s COVID-19 caseload has jumped to 5,918 after recording 183 new more cases.

However recoveries from the disease still remain at 1,754.

The new 183 cases were confirmed in six regions in the Greater Accra Region continues to top the league.

Affected regions

Greater Accra Region – 108

Ashanti Region – 63

Volta Region –  7

Central Region – 2

Oti Region – 2

Eastern Region – 1

According to the Service, the Accra Metropolitan and the Korle Klottey areas in the Greater Accra Region are the key contributors to  new cases in country. Also in the Ashanti Region, Obuasi and Kumasi Metro are drivers  of the 63 new cases in that region.
