Rev Albert & Comfort Ocran being interviewed by the host of the program

Accra, Ghana//-Ghanaian motivational couple Rev Albert & Comfort Ocran today took their turns at the fourth edition of the MTN Ghana’s Bright Conversations with a display of dexterity across wide range of issues relating to running of business and building solid relationships.

According to them, the root of partnerships is the spirit of collaboration and urged individuals, organizations and institutions to endeavour to forge partnerships to enable them to address the challenges facing their societies.

Discussing the topic- ‘Building Meaningful Partnerships for a Brighter Future’, the two organizers of the Springboard Roadshow programmes, noted that without mutual respect partnerships are dead on arrival.

The MTN Bright Conversations which was created as part of activities to mark the 25th anniversary celebrations and to honour distinguished individuals whose ideas, thoughts and reflections have helped to shape the Ghanaian society, was streamed from the MTN House via Zoom.

Building corporate partnerships

Touching on building corporate partnerships, Rev Albert Ocran, co-founder of the Springboard Roadshow Foundation, organizers of the annual Springboard Road shows, said they normally chose companies and organizations which share their goals as partnerships.

For instance, he noted that their goals were line with MTN Ghana’s vision of brightening and enriching lives, explaining that is why they have been with MTN Ghana as a major partner for the past 14 years out of the 15years of the existence of the Springboard.

Rev Ocran was quick to add that they usually engage with their stakeholders to identify and select the solutions that they would provide for their teeming roadshow participants which are mostly the youth.

Walked away from publishing company

The internationally acclaimed motivational speaker revealed the reason why he walked away from his flourishing publishing company at that time to engaging in empowering the youth through his Springboard Roadshow Foundation.

According to him, their passion had shifted from their individual benefit to the benefit of the society.

Throwing more light on the above, Mrs Comfort Ocran, Executive Director of the Springboard Roadshow Foundation, said: “We chose Springboard over the publishing company because of its impact on the larger society”.

How to address mistrust

To address mistrust in relationships, she advised partners to be transparent, open and accountable in order not to break the trust capital.

The couple who has been married for over 25 years, encouraged young people to take their families to retreat every year to enable them to bond together.

Instructively, the inaugural edition of the Springboard Roadshow which was held in January 2007, at the Osu Presbyterian Hall in Accra, has since become a household name with young people converging in their thousands every year to listen to achievers from various fields and interact with them in a mentoring experience.

After crisscrossing the regions of Ghana for a decade and moving on to Gambia and Nigeria, the roadshows have been turned into digital engagement of participants due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
