SuperSport, the biggest sports broadcaster in Africa, brings viewers on DStv all the action from the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open at the TPC at Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada, from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20 October 2024.
First played in 1983, this event has been known by various title sponsorships down the years but has been associated with Shriners Hospitals for Children since 2008. Shriners is a network of non-profit children’s hospitals and pediatric medical facilities across North America.
The double reigning champion is Korean Tom Kim, who won both the 2022 and 2023 Shriners Children’s Opens with scores of 260 (– 24) and 264 (– 20), respectively. The 22-year-old will look to join Jim Furyk as a record three-time winner of this tournament.

The tournament will also feature a player who will be a fitting match for the Shriners Children’s Open in the shape of youngster Ian Gilligan. Gilligan, a college junior in Florida who was diagnosed with lymphoma at 15 but is now cancer-free, won the Southern Highlands Collegiate earlier this to earn a spot in the Shriners Children’s Open.
“To be able to play in a PGA TOUR event would be cool to get that experience,” he said after shooting 67-71-70 to overcome a two-shot deficit and win the Southern Highlands by one stroke. “Being able to compete with the top players in the world would be awesome, and kind of get a lot of learning from that.”
The TPC at Summerlin features a 7255-yard par 71 course, and the purse for the Shriners Children’s Open is US $ 7 million.
