MTN Business SME Month: Leveraging the Power of Microsoft to Speed up SMEs’ Digitalisation

Accra, Ghana//-MTN Business and Microsoft are leveraging their significant power of technology and connectivity to innovate and speed up the growth and digitalisation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana and across Africa.

To this end, both multinationals are working strategically to accelerate digital and cloud solutions for the benefit of customers, and all sizes of businesses particularly SMEs at this period of global economic crisis.

These leading digital solutions also support governments, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs). These solutions are made possible through the versatility of Microsoft platforms and capabilities to speed up value creation.

Microsoft Solution

This newly introduced game-changing solution is being implemented by MTN Business in partnership with Microsoft.

The solution which is primarily targeted at SMEs, SOHO and corporates offers a unique opportunity to deliver the full portfolio of Microsoft applications via certified SPLAs at very affordable prices.

According to senior officials of MTN Business, the plan is to not only sell the Microsoft offer but to bundle it with in-house solutions to make the offering more viable and enable businesses to use it as a management tool for their organisations, among others.

As they explained, the bespoke solution or service seeks to create 10% top-of-mind awareness (TOMA) for SMEs, SoHos and start-ups that MTN Business offers cloud applications, productivity solutions, and security solutions on top of Business solutions.

The solution also drives uptake of services for at least 300 sign ups by end of year. Furthermore, it informs the target of flexible payment options, competitive prices, and exciting add-ons.

Recent available research shows SMEs/SoHos have been purchasing Microsoft 365/productivity solutions from retailers /vendors at steep prices.

Additionally, MTN Business has identified an opportunity to design and deliver cloud applications, productivity solutions, and software as a service to SMEs and SoHos.

As part of the ongoing MTN Business SME Month, the Acting Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Ghana, Daniel Asare assured that MTN is leveraging its strong local presence and industry knowledge to ensure that their SME customers feel confident about handling their digital and cloud needs.

Indeed, MTN Ghana as the leader of the country’s telecoms industry has bundled connectivity solutions to integrate and enhance the digital and cloud experience of businesses operating in Ghana seamlessly.

The Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana in a short remark before launching the SME month said the telecoms company is preparing the SMEs in the country to take full advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to become regional players.

He reiterated that MTN Ghana remains committed to providing its customers, particularly SMEs with world class digital products and services that ensure they are empowered to compete locally and internationally.

The MTN Group Head of MTN Enterprise Business, Tumi Chamayou who spoke at the launch in Accra, assured that MTN as a leading global telecoms company is working around the clock to provide solutions to solve some of the challenges faced by SMEs.

These challenges she mentioned include access to finance, technology, and infrastructure.

Madam Chamayou added MTN is looking to train businesses to shift to digital finance through mobile money services, while acknowledging that the deadly COVID-19 pandemic had accelerated the pace of digitalization and urged African continent to also digitise

With MTN’s core belief that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life, it is therefore working assiduously to ensure that the digital, telecoms and financial technology (Fintech) needs of its customers are met.

MTN’s Ambition 2025 strategy is anchored on building the largest and most valuable platform business with a clear focus on Ghana and other African countries.

This rests on a scale connectivity and infrastructure business, making use of both mobile and fixed access networks across the consumer, enterprise, and wholesale segments.
