Togo Strengthened its Legal Arsenal on Cyber Security

Lomé, Togo, October 11, 2019// – The Council of Ministers and the Togolese government adopted a draft law authorizing the ratification of the Convention of the African Union on cyber security and the protection of personal data adopted in Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.

The aim of the authorities is to enable the country to meet the particular security challenges closely linked to technological developments, and more specifically the development of activities in the digital sector.

The ratification of this Convention “should support the government’s efforts, through the National Development Plan (PND), digital up the center of the country’s development process,” the statement the Council said.

The Government states that this ratification “will, firstly, to strengthen the national legal and institutional system and, secondly, to benefit from the cooperation of other states, particularly in electronic transactions, promoting cyber security and fight against cybercrime. ”

Note that in cyber security, Togo and the Polish specialist IT Security Asseco agreed, in March 2019, launched in 2020, “Cyber Defense Africa”, an agency dedicated to cyber security. The agreement between the two parties was signed on the sidelines of the African CEO Forum in Kigali, Rwanda.

Also as part of its fight against cybercrime, the government has provided for the creation of the National Agency of cyber security and a Support Fund for cyber security. Including the establishment of a Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) and a Security Operating Center (SOC).

The FERIN Lounge, an opportunity to promote foreign investment to Togo

 The Minister for Trade, Transport, Industry, Private Sector Development and promotion of local consumption Kodjo ADEDZE, today Thursday 10 October in Lome, the launching ceremony of the activities of the Fair trade facilitation and revaluation of investments (FERIN Salon).

Scheduled for two days, this particular business meeting aims to promote investment to Togo through the leverage of technology, and create investment opportunities for the Togolese entrepreneurs.

The FERIN Fair is an initiative of the Fertile Soil Association. It aims to provide a framework of interaction, promotion of economic activities, sharing of experience, research and managerial investment, discover new opportunities and new markets to contribute to inclusive and sustainable development and the processing of Togolese society, told one of the organizers.

In his inaugural address, the Minister of Commerce, Kodjo ADEDZE, (Sponsor of the Fair), suggested that the event involved in Togo’s ambitions as a global gathering of business and investment, also recalling the efforts of the country, in improving the business climate.

Note that the event is supported by the Togolese government and many actors, such as Togo Revenue Authority (OTR) or the Chamber of Commerce Industry of Togo, official sponsor, which was represented at the launch by its president, Germain MEBA.

The show will be punctuated including communications, workshops, round tables on questions of investment and entrepreneurship, which will take part the various actors of the Togolese economy. He recorded some forty stands, Togolese and foreign companies, and about sixty speakers, with the score of 6 countries. On these two days, 3,000 visitors are expected at the Palace of the Lomé convention, where the event takes place.
