Togo: German Firm to Inject More Than $30 million in Production of Cement

Lome, Togo. January 8, 2020-The German group HeidelbergCement plans this year an investment of more than $ 30 million in the expansion of its subsidiary CIMTOGO, the main cement production plant in Togo.

This was announced Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in Lome, Eric GOULIGNAC, CEO of the multinational in Togo during a meeting with media professionals. The company thus intends to contribute to the implementation of Axis 2 of the National Development Plan (NDP) which aims to develop mining.

With this investment, the Group aims to increase the plant CIMTOGO Lome crushing capacity of over one million tons per year. Via this project, the company that claims to have created about 4,000 direct and indirect jobs in Togo provides for a 30% increase in direct jobs created.

 

200 or 300 people will work on this project, indicate company officials. The group HeidelbergCement country representative said: “With this investment, the HeidelbergCement Group believes in the prospects of the Togolese economy and continues to contribute to its development with the transformation of national resources under the NDP.”

This new funding will bring to 250 million dollars, the total invested in 9 years by giant cement Togo. Recall that outside CIMTOGO in Lome, the group opened a grinding station in Kara and integrated clinker plant “Scantogo” in Tabligbo.
