South African High Commission Marks Mandela Day in Accra

Accra, Ghana, July 18, 2019//-The Government of South Africa through its High Commission in Ghana has commemorated the ‘Nelson Mandela International Day’ with a massive clean up exercise at the Osu Children’s Home in Accra.
In an exclusive interview with Diplomatic Affairs, the deputy South African High Commissioner to Ghana Thabelo Madumane stressed that the late Nelson Mandela’s message of peace and unity on the African continent still remains relevant.


Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the country’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election.
This year marks the 101th birthday of Mandela who passed away on December 5, 2013 and whose birth anniversary is globally observed as the ‘Nelson Mandela International Day’ since 2009.
