Sam Amo Tobin Foundation Supports Muslims in Nima

Accra, Ghana, June 12, 2018//-Sam Amo Tobin Foundation, the CSR wing of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals (TPL) and its sister companies donated food items to the Muslims community of Nima in Accra, Ghana through the organizers of the Nima Excellence Awards. 

The Foundation donated items including uncooked rice, sugar, cooking oil, tin tomatoes as well as some beverages for onward distribution to the old and needy in the Nima community during the holy month of Ramadan.

The donation is done by the Founder Jimmy John who won the Personality of the Year and his company grabbing the Business Organization of the Year in the second edition of the community-based awards, Nima Excellence Awards 2017.

Food items

Nima Excellence Awards (NEA) is designed to celebrate individuals and organizations located within the Nima, New Town, Maamobi, Pig Farm, Kotobabi, Kanda and Ruga catchment area, who have excelled in their respective fields.

The awards cut across all sectors: From Academia, Business, Politics, Sports, Media, Arts and Entertainments, Religion and Tradition to Social Work.

In a short ceremony, Harriet Nottinson Asante, Acting Executive Director of Sam Amo Tobin Foundation said, “this donation is a kind gesture by the founder to the organizers of the Nima Excellence Awards and the Muslim community at large.”

“We are all one people and Dr Amo Tobin by this gesture is reaching out to all Muslim to wish them well as they go through this holy month of spiritual exercise. It is his prayer that these items will aid the old and needy in the community as they go through the 30-day fasting,” she said.

Being the first time the Foundation has made a donation to the community through the organisation, she said, “Dr Tobin is excited to extend a helping hand to the old and needy in the Nima community.”

She encouraged all Muslims to remember to pray for Dr Amo Tobin, the Foundation to grow from strength to strength and for the country to continue to continue to enjoy its peace.

Also in attendance to present the items was the Foundation’s Accountant, Basil Damankah and Assistant Administrator, Eric Frimpong.

The Coordinator of NEA, Ibrahim Alhassan, with his team and selected community leaders who received the items thanked the Foundation for its kind gesture.

“The old and needy in the Nima community are grateful that Dr Samuel Amo Tobin through his Sam Amo Tobin Foundation remembered them to show your love this way. This donation came at the right time as Ramadan enters its final days.

“We hope other organisations will learn from your kind gesture and follow suit to support the community,” he said.
