MTN Forum: Incident of Mobile Money Fraud Reducing in Ghana-Police

Sefwi Wiawso, Western North Region, March 22, 2019//-Ghana Police Service has revealed that the incident of mobile money fraud in the country is reducing.

The Western North Regional Commander of Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Francis Enor , who disclosed this attributed the decline to intensive public education on the incident in the country.

Speaking at a community forum organised by MTN Ghana at Sefwi Wiawso in the newly created Western North Region, CSP Enor said: “Nowadays, the incident of reporting in connection with mobile money is reducing because of the education we have been given to the public”.

Although he did not provide the incident reduction figures to back his fact, CSP Enor entreated the public to be very careful because the criminals are always ahead of the security agencies at anytime.

The General Manager of Southern Ghana sector of MTN Ghana, Abubakar Mohammed said in order to get in touch with its key stakeholders it usually organise community forum to meet them for presentations and solicit feedback.

He added that through the annual forums, officials of the telecoms company interact directly with customers, update them on the company’s operations and quality of services.

The Acting Regional Senior Manager of MTN Ghana, Mohammed Tiyuniba Yakubu, said his outfit has over the years supported in community development in the areas of health, education and economic employment.

A cross-section of the public

In attendance of the forum were Regional Police Commander, Immigration Commander, Fire Service, partner banks, market women, dressmakers association, students and trade partners.
