MPs Fail to Turn Up for Ghana Card

Parliament of Ghana

Accra, Ghana, June 11, 2018//-Reports say Members of Parliament (MPs) today failed to turn up for the ongoing special registration for the Ghana car at the Parliament House.

Though officials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) had set up a stand for the MPs to come and register for the cards, none of the MP went to register.

This is not the first time that the NIA Ghana card registration exercise faced such an embarrassment. It faced similarly situation some two weeks  ago when the President and his vice as well other senior government officials waited for the registration at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government for the whole day without officials of the NIA showing up to register them.

Minority Spokesperson on Mines And Energy, Adam Mutawakilu and his Minority colleagues insisted that they would not take part in the exercise which has been dogged with controversies.

“If for their personal reason they [Majority] are not here, that is none of my business. Once the Minority is not taking part whether they [Majority] are here or not, it is not our business”, he told Citi FM, an Accra-based radio station.

Earlier, the opposition National Democratic Congress Minority in Parliament had boycotted the whole registration exercise.

The whereabouts of the Majority MPs were not immediately known at the time of going to the press.
