A cornerstone of President Trump’s economic policy is making the United States “a manufacturing powerhouse” again.

The new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement is intended to do that for the auto industry and other manufacturers. That’s important, he says, not only for job creation but also national security.

The president spoke ahead of Manufacturing Day, celebrated on the first Friday of October each year by companies large and small with open houses and other events to explain what they do and attract more skilled workers.
