India High Commission Marks International Women’s Day  

Accra, March 10, 2018//-The High Commission of India in Accra on Friday 9 March, 2018  joined Ghana and the rest of the world to mark this year’s International Women’s Day with music and cultural display at the residence of the  Indian High Commissioner, His Excellency Birender Singh Yadav.

The evening event which was attended by women of all walks of life was used to celebrate the women in Ghana, India and the whole world.

In a short remarks, the wife of the Indian High Commissioner, Madam Richa Rao commended her colleague women for their contributions towards the socio-economic development of Ghana, India and the rest of the world.

She used the occasion to urge the women to keep up the good work they are doing. Madam Rao also encouraged the women to be strong in all their endeavours.

Indian Women’s Association, Ghana used the occasion to award some Indian and Ghanaian women for their contribution to the association and the country at large.

This year’s International Women’s Day was under the theme, ‘Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives’, while the Ghanaian-adopted theme for this year’s celebration: ‘Women Too: press for progress to develop Ghana’.

The International Women’s Day is marked every year globally on March 8th to celebrate the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
