IFest 2019: MTN Ghana Urges Subscribers to Swap SIM Cards to 4G+ Service

Accra, Ghana, May 16, 2019//-MTN Ghana has urged its subscribers to swap their 4G mobile devices to 4G+ service to enable them enjoy unlimited internet coverage and speed in the country.

The Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, Noel Kojo-Ganson made the call in a speech read for him in Accra to launch the ninth edition of MTN Internet Festival (IFest).

He noted: “From our internally generated statistics, we have realized that even though a lot more of our subscribers are using 4G enabled devices, most of them have not swapped their sim cards to enjoy the 4G and 4G+ coverage and speed”.

“This is probably because they are not aware or do not know how to fully utilize the devices they have”, Mr Kojo-Ganson added.

He was however hopeful that the situation would improve during this month of iFest, which seeks to encourage these customers to swap their SIMs to enjoy the full benefits of 4G and 4G+ service.

“We are offering so much to customers to ensure that they enjoy their digital experience on the MTN network.

For IFest 2019, one of our goals is to ensure that six out of 10 MTN customers lined up would have access to a digital experience through a smartphone or a mobile broadband device”, Mr Kojo-Ganson told customers at the launch at Madina Zongo Junction in Accra.

This year, in consonance with the Year of the Customer declaration, we will seek to reward the customer while offering great value for money”.

Activities

Activities undertaken as part of IFest include trader’s fora, digital fairs in the markets, campuses etc have all contributed significantly to internet penetration in Ghana.

“Through IFest, we have created the opportunity for countless education opportunities across all touch points to share valuable insights on the benefits of the internet”.

Through IFest and other initiatives, the company was able to increased the number of data subscribers from 1.5 million to 13.5 million currently, Mr Kojo-Ganson stated.

As leaders in Ghana’s telecommunication space we cannot help but bring our expertise to educate many more data users during the month of IFest, according to him.

Experience

A bold new digital world and living a digitally connected lifestyle is a myth to most people but it is real. During IFest, we are creating a lot of experiential moments for our customers to enjoy high speed data connectivity. We are therefore creating experimental opportunities at various touchpoints for customers to have a feel of the digital world, he stated.

Access to data devices

Most customers want to enjoy data services and connect to social media but access to smart phone is a challenge. So IFest will be used to educate such persons to upgrade and get one of our newly launched MTN SMART feature phone and other devices such as the MTN Turbonet.

Also, the telecom services provider is partnering with its Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to organize device bazaars and digital fairs in several locations across the country during the internet festival.
