IFEJ Members Tour Voltic Ghana Plant at Akwadum

Akwadum, Eastern Region, Ghana, December 21, 2018//-Voltic Ghana Limited (Voltic), leading bottled natural mineral water producer hosted members of Institute of Financial and Economic Journalist (IFEJ) at its Akwadum Factory in the Eastern Region to celebrate shortlisted applicants of the Annual Flamingo Awards.

The event, according to managers of the company was part of Voltic’s sponsorship towards the fifth IFEJ Flamingo awards held on 14th December 2018.

Speaking at the IFEJ – Voltic Media Factory Tour, Public Affairs and Communication Manager of Voltic, Madam Joyce Ahiadorme said that, Voltic is proud to work with journalists especially members of IFEJ who work tirelessly to bring news worthy stories that enable business decisions while bringing to the fore areas of opportunities for businesses to impact deprived communities.

She stated: “Our mission- to refresh Ghana everyday while making the country a better place for all is translated into our sustainability priorities dubbed The 3Ws- Women empowerment; Water Stewardship and Waste Management.

The 3Ws programme demonstrates Voltic’s commitment towards creating greater shared opportunity for the business and the communities we serve across the value-chain, according to Madam Ahiadorme.

In 2018 alone, Voltic empowered over 900 women directly in its value chain, two of such are widows. They are currently having a source of economic gains through the women empowerment programme, she revealed.

Madam Ahiadorme was quick to add that Voltic has also provided 3,000 pupils in six schools with potable water in five regions in Ghana. Through the Irecycle programme recently launched with its partners, the company is managing its post-consumer waste in a sustainable manner.

 As a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa committed to leading the industry to help collect and recycle a bottle or can for every one sold  by 2030, Voltic is looking forward to accelerating its plastic waste collection and recycling efforts with various industry players in Ghana in 2019, she stressed.

Lloyd Evans, the past President of IFEJ who led the IFEJ members to the Factory thanked the management of Voltic Ghana for opening their doors to IFEJ.

He also thanked them for their continuous support of the annual IFEJ-Flamingo Awards since its inception.

At the end of the programme, each participant recommended areas of improvement for the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility/Sustainability priorities – The 3Ws.
