Graphic Workers Reject Creation of Deputy MD Office for Ransford Tetteh

Ransford Tetteh, editor of Daily Graphic

Accra, Ghana, December 17, 2018//-Unionised workers at the state-owned Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) are threatening to lay down their tools over the board attempt to create a new position for Ransford Tetteh.

Information gathered by African Eye Report indicates that Mr Tetteh who also doubles as the Development Chief for Paakro near Nsawam in the Eastern Region was supposed to have gone on leave prior to retirement in October 2018 but has been hanging on with the approval of Professor Kwame Karikari, the board chairman.

The situation has seen many of the workers questioning the integrity of the Board Chairman.

The workers therefore are demanding that the Graphic board must stop the creation of the Deputy Managing Director (DMD) office for Mr Tetteh, the editor of Daily Graphic, the flagship newspaper of the Group, immediately or meet their fury.

Their reaction is in sync with the members of the Yaw Boadu-Ayeboafo-led National Media Commission (NMC) who had earlier threatened to dissolve the board if it dares to create the new position for the embattled editor.

All the workers at Graphic are rejecting the creation of the office based on the fact it would drain the coffers of the most profitable media organization in the country, they maintained.

This is because it would come with huge salary, allowances, big cars, luxury accommodation, among others at time that the newspaper business is reeling under poor sales and poor advertisements in Ghana and the world at large, according to them.

“We don’t know why Ransford Tetteh doesn’t want to leave Graphic after rising from staff reporter, editor, acting Managing Director and back to editor. But it is time for him to leave the Group, the workers at Graphic lamented.

Mr Tetteh who is the darling boy of the current government was recently in the news for trying to hijack the Graphic MD position he was taken care of following the appointment of a substantive MD. He was prevailed upon by the previous NMC commissioners to give way to the current Graphic MD, Benjamin Ato Afful.
