Gov’t Can’t Label Money Accrued from Airport Covid-19 Testing as Achievement – Minority Leader

Flash back: Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu flanked by his deputy James Avedzi and Mr Forson

Tamale, Northern Region, Ghana, September 22, 2020//-Ghana’s Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu says the Akufo-Addo government cannot use money accrued from Covid-19 testing at the airport as one of its successes.

The legislator said Covid-19 is nothing anyone should be proud of, to the extent of even couching achievement around the pandemic.

Addressing chiefs and people of Kakpag Yili at the commissioning of a CHPS Compound in the Tamale constituency, Mr Iddrisu said Covid-19 is not a money-making venture.

He called on the NPP government to rather concentrate on ensuring that the virus is controlled.

The Tamale South MP said the Addo-Addo-led administration could not have been shouting on the rooftops about the success on his Free Senior High School (SHS) had it not been the infrastructure built by the Mahama administration

He said instead of giving credit where it is due, the Akufo-Addo government is turning a blind eye on the infrastructure achievements of NDC.

The Minority leader said the idea behind the upgrading of the Tamale airport by the Mahama administration was not just for the Hajj pilgrimage but also for export of agriculture produce from the Northern Regions and its environs.

Haruna Iddrisu promised that an NDC government would ensure it comes to fruition.

He explained that it was scheduled “to anticipate future expanded exports of horticultural crops from northern Ghana, from Tamale and from our communities abroad… maybe to the European Union as an additional market.”
