February 12, 2020//-Federation of Africa Amputee Football (FAAF) has appointed internationally renowned Agriculturist and Statesman Dr. Abu Sakara Foster as one of their top continental patrons ahead of  the launch of the Federation’s Five (5) – Year Development Plan.

Presenting the appointment letter to the 2012 Presidential Candidate in his office in Accra, President of FAAF, Rev. Richard Nii Amartey Adesah said, “Dr. Abu Sakara is undoubtedly one of the most distinguished Statesmen cum politicians of conviction on the continent of Africa. He has vast knowledge, experience and international network hence being a patron of the amputees rehabilitating Federation could help actualise our 5-year vision and our long term goals.”
According to Rev. Nii Adesah, their choice of Dr. Sakara has to do more with “his  expressed commitment and desire  to help build a prosperous society for all and not just a few.  His conviction to this notion is captured in the vision statement of the National Interest Movement (NIM) he leads.”
” The subject of inclusion is so important to persons with disability because they are usually victims of marginalisation and neglect.
Hence, those who champion all-inclusive societies and approaches to development are those that the underprivileged and neglected people look up to,” the FAAF president observed.
On his part, the founding member of NIM in accepting the appointment and invitation to serve as a  patron, thanked the continental Federation and assured them of his fullest commitment to their cause and overall welfare.
Dr. Sakara further said, “Inclusion is an inevitable element of democratic development  because both democracy and development are about participation.
Both old and young, males and females, persons with challenges and persons without challenges are supposed to be involved from policy formulation level to policy implementation and equitable distribution of resources for socio-economic growth.”
According to Dr. Sakara, “how a society attends to the needs of its vulnerable members determines the character of that society and the essence of its leadership. It is only irresponsible societies that neglect their persons with vulnerabilities. The dignity that a society accords to the least of its citizens is the measure of civility of that society.
We need to build a prosperous society for all.”
The FAAF executives are in Ghana to launch their 5-Year Development Plan and Crowdfunding Campaign as well as interact with very important stakeholders as part of their 2020 continental tour.
Dr Abu Sakara is leading NIM to pursue a constitutional and institutional reform agenda that seeks to help build Ghana as a prosperous society for all.
He is the Keynote Speaker of the upcoming CEBSAR – Africa Public Lecture at the Sasakawa Conference Room, University of Cape Coast. The theme of the lecture is: Building a  Prosperous Society for all and not few.
