Ghana Move Up in FIFA Ranking

Black Stars

Ghana moved two places up in the FIFA Ranking released on Thursday, August 16.

Ghana moved from the 47th position to the 45th on the global rankings and from 6th to 4th in Africa.

Aside a 2-0 win over Japan and a 2-2 draw with Iceland within the period under review, Ghana’s performance may be as a result of the new ranking formula introduced by the sport’s world-governing body at its meeting in June.

The ranking is the first after the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the champions, France, are deservedly ranked Number One.

They moved six places up to replace Germany, who drop a whopping 14 places to 15th.

2018 World Cup finalists Croatia have also equaled their best performance in the ranking, moving 16 places up to 4th.

Tunisia remained the best-ranked side in Africa with Senegal in second.

Surprisingly, DR Congo are third while Ghana and Morocco complete the continent’s Top 5.
