Accra, February 6, 2018//-The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC-Ghana)  together with several other Transport unions across the country and the general workforce with the Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) will stage a peaceful street demonstration tomorrow morning at exactly 7am.

The demonstration is occasioned by the persistent increase in the prices of petroleum products and the general economic hardship in the country.

The various pumps across the country within the past five months has seen a persistent increases in the price of petroleum products with the corresponding hardships these increases bring on the people of Ghana, according to a press release signed Duncan Amoah, the Executive Secretary COPEC and copied to Africaneyereport.com .

The release said, several press releases on the subject matter including a recent press conference addressed by the leader of the largest Workers Union in the Country-ICU, has so far yielded very little results as the increases continues unabated, with the most recent one being yesterday.

Several attempts to draw the attention of authorities to the need to review the pricing formulae or build up and the taxes has equally not seen yielded any noticeable results including a petition on same matter submitted to the Presidency in the month of September 2017, it stated.

“We therefore entreat the public and everyone who feels the pressures of these incessant increases in fuel prices to join this peaceful expression of uneasiness in our pockets,” the release said.

It further stressed that, the excuses must indeed end, the Taxes must be reduced to bring some reductions and stability in prices.

However, the Chamber is by this notice cordially inviting the general public to join in this peaceful demonstration first thing tomorrow morning.
