Ghana Chamber of Mines Honours JBA at Industry Awards

Accra, Ghana, December 3, 2018//-Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA), has been awarded at the 4th Ghana Mining Industry Awards (GMIA) for its positive reportage on the activities of the country’s mining industry.

The awards night held in Accra on Friday, 30 November, 2018 which was organised by the Ghana Chamber of Mines coincided with the climax of the 90th Anniversary celebrations of the Chamber was themed-‘A Responsible and Sustainable Mining Industry; a Partner for National Development’.

A citation certificate was presented by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Sulemanu Koney to the President of JBA, Suleiman Mustapha and his members.

The citation reads: “In recognition of your passionate advocacy in support of responsible corporate entities in the mining industry with objective and fact-based journalistic work”.

Commenting on the award, Mr Mustapha thanked the organizers especially the Ghana Chamber of Mines for the honour done the JBA which is an association journalists committed to business advocacy in the country.

JBA has successfully embarked on a lot of advocacy campaigns on challenges bedeviling the country’s mining industry. These include multiple taxes, delay permitting, and high electricity tariffs.

The journalists group also embarked on a number of mining site tours with the support of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
