Ghana: 4 Assemblies of God Members Died in Volta Lake Accident

August 3, 2019//-A Canoe carrying 10 members of the Assemblies of God Church from Senchi to old Akrade in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region of Ghana has capsized on the Volta Lake, leading to the death of four persons.

An Assembly Member of the area, Issah Laweh, who confirmed the news to GHOne TV blamed it on overloading of the canoe.

Six of the victims have been rescued while the four others were retrieved dead. They were returning from a Church program on Saturday afternoon when the incident occurred.

Boat accident is intermittently recorded on the Volta lake as locals do not adhere to safety precautions including refusal to wear live jacket despite continuous awareness by NADMO officials in the District.
