Galaxy Foundation Presents Wheelchair to A Young Man Who Fell Into 60ft Abandoned Galamsey Pit

Ashanti Region, Ghana, July 4, 2020//-Galaxy Foundation Ghana, an NGO has donated a wheelchair to 25 year old man who got paralyzed after falling into 60 feet (ft) abandoned  galamsey pit during hunting in a forest at Adansi Adwafo in the Ashanti Region.

 He has been paralyzed for the past 24 months. “Walking was unbearable, I couldn’t even sit and stand straight. I’m not happy. The pain stopped me from from participating in many things but with the wheelchair I can now move around for some fresh air”, Kwabena Owusu, lamented.

Officials of the Galaxy Foundation at the donation ceremony said they would later raise funds to support Mr Owusu’s surgery.

He needed a laminectomy, a surgical procedure where part of the vertebral bone is operated to relieve pressure on the spinal cord, according to them.

“We offer free services and surgical procedures for those that are less privileged and cannot afford the cost’’, David Hagan, Chief Executive Officer of the Galaxy Foundation Ghana, said.

The family couldn’t hide their joy and ecstasy for these wonderful gesture bestowed on Mr Owusu to help him mobile.
