Coalition For Restoration to Assess the Impact of Ghana’s Banking Sector Crisis in Takoradi Meeting

Accra, Ghana, October 5, 2019//-Coalition For Restoration (CFR), a Civil Society Organisation, has invited the general public to its town hall meeting slated for Wednesday 9 October, 2019 to assess the impact of Ghana’s banking sector crisis.

The event to be held at the Ghana National Association Of Teachers (GNAT) Hall in Takoradi, the Western Regional capital is on the theme: Assessing  Banking Sector Reforms; Impact On The Ordinary Ghanaian!
Speakers
 Isaac Adongo,  MP Bolga Central; Ato Forson MP Ajumako; Fiifi Kwetey MP Ketu South; and Isaac Danso, are the speakers of the all-important meeting, according to a press release issued by George Loh, the organiser.
Stakeholders of the banking & finance,  accounting, tax, economics, victims of the banking sector cleanup as well the general public are also expected to attend the event.
The objective of this town hall meeting is to trace developments in the reform process, assess it’s effectiveness and impact on various stakeholders such as for employees, depositors, ordinary Ghanaians, owners of financial institutions and the way forward, the release explained.
The Bank of Ghana since 2017 has embarked on a program of reforms of the banking sector leading to implementation of a new minimum capital for Universal Banks.
The reform has resulted in the collapse of nine Universal Banks, 23 savings and loans companies and 347 microfinance institutions.
In the process several jobs have been lost, depositors are struggling to recover their deposits and confidence in the financial sector at its lowest ebb.
