Accra, Ghana, August 24, 2017- The operation of an online financial scheme using mobile money platforms as a medium by an entity named MONIDOUBLA is not licensed by the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to engage in any form of deposit-taking business.
Hence, anyone who does business with MONIDOUBLA does so at his or her own risk.
The Bank warned in a press release issued in Accra today.
From investigations, funds are mobilised and paid to members of the MONIDOUBLA “community” via mobile money platforms, according to the press release.
“The entity’s operations are contrary to section 6(1) of the Banks and Specialized Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), and also threatens the safety and soundness of the financial system”.
