10 African Countries on Highest Schengen Visa Refusals List; Nigeria, Ghana In

Accra, Ghana, April 22, 2019//-Nigeria and Ghana are among the 10 countries in Africa that on the highest Schengen Visa Refusals List, according to official statistics from Schengen embassies located in Africa.

The countries and their percentages of refusals are-Nigeria (52.5%), Etrea (47.8%), Guinea (43.5%), Central Africa Republic (43.0%), Senegal (37.9%), Comoros (36.3%), Ghana (36.2%), Algeria (35.9%), Democratic Republic of Congo (34.8%), and war-ravaged Libya.

The online information platform https://www.schengenvisainfo.com, noted that Schengen embassies located in Africa collected 17% of the more than 16 million people applied for Schengen uniform visas recorded worldwide in 2017.

These African citizens who paid huge sum of monies as visa fees were denied the visas into the 26 Schengen countries. They are-Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Visa applications will be rejected if the visa fee is not paid or if the application forms are not fully completed and signed. A negative decision can be taken if the applications are not accompanied by the required documents, according to the General Schengen Visa Requirement document.

Commenting on the refusals of Schengen visas to African citizens, visa application and travel experts were not enthused with the development.

Yaw Boateng who is one of such experts, called African governments to something drastic about the wanton refusal of visas by the 26 Schengen countries.

“Why is it that it is easy for citizens of these Schengen countries to get visas to travel to African countries at ease but we can’t find it difficult to travel to their countries”, he quizzed.
