Rwanda to Invest More to Improve Transport Infrastructure

Kigali, Rwanda

April 20, 2018//-Rwanda is planning more investment in improving the country’s transport infrastructure in order to plug domestic road network gaps and stimulate economic growth, a senior official said on Thursday.

The Minister of State, Ministry of Infrastructure, Jean Uwihanganye, said this at a national urban mobility news conference in Rwandan capital city Kigali.

“We are going to focus more on investing in road transport infrastructure network across the country. Domestic and international transportation is a key factor for economic growth,” said Uwihanganye.

In spite significant improvements made to Kigali’s road network and other feeder road networks across the country, there is still a lot to do to close road transport infrastructure gap, said the minister.

The two-day forum is organised by the Rwandan government in collaboration with Africa Transport Policy Programme, an international partnership programme that aims to facilitate policy development and related capacity building in the transport sector in Africa.
