How MTN Heroes of Change Nominee Becomes the  Hope for  Homeless Children

Naomi Esi Arku Amoah, 2018 MTN Heroes of Change nominee

Accra, Ghana, April 5, 2018//-Madam Naomi Esi Arku Amoah  who is the founder of Royal Seed Home (RSH), a residential children’s home based in Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana is a woman of many parts-a street evangelist, a social worker, and a philanthropist.

As an evangelist Madam Amoah has had the poor and vulnerable people in society at heart and has been working hard to accomplish her dream of building an inclusive society for all.

Her unique passion for social work is immeasurable.

How is she funding the project

As a philanthropist,  Madam Amoah single-handily funds the Royal Seed Home project with little resources. She is the only hope for the homeless children in the area.

She said: “In the beginning, my mother sold her belongings and properties to support the vision. But now, I fund this project all by myself. I don’t do any other work than to evangelise on the streets; what I make from there is what I use to take care of the kids”.

” I also roam about pleading with people to help when the kids are sick and have surgeries to be done. This project has survived only by God’s grace and I thank God no kid has lost his or her life under my care”.

Achievements

The vision of Royal Seed Home, according to Madam Amoah is to bring up a needy or homeless child to become a great person in future, and that is what she has been working on. She takes homeless and needy children into her uncompleted structure and gives them a bright future.

For instance, eight  children who passed her Royal Seed Home are currently studying in some of the leading universities in the country . Also, 24 children from care facility are attending Senior High schools.

Madam Amoah through her Royal Seed Home provides food and shelter for orphans and other needy children in Kasoa and its surrounding areas.

Also through her project, she has catered for over 100 street children; some of whom were abandoned as babies.

Madam Amoah is taking care of children who do not know their families. Most of them were brought to her home at tender ages. So, she cannot trace their families.

Some of those who brought the children never showed up again to check up on them. The feeding, clothing, sheltering and educating the abandoned children have become her sole responsibilities till they are of working age and take care for themselves.

Nominated for MTN Heroes of Change

The affable Madam Amoah’s magnificent contributions to the people in Kasoa and its surrounding communities did not go unnoticed. They have nominated her  to participate in this year’s MTN Heroes of Change.

It is currently aired on GTV every Sunday at 5:00pm; TV3 on Saturdays at 4:00pm;UTV on Sundays at 3:00pm;  Adom TV on Saturdays at 7:30pm; Max TV on Fridays at 7:00pm; and Home Base TV on Saturdays at 3:30pm to highlight the humanitarian activities of the Madam Amoah and the other nine nominees.

The MTN Heroes of Change  which is MTN Ghana Foundation flagship project was initiated in July 2013 to recognise and reward persons who have provided significant humanitarian services to their communities through personal sacrifices.

The MTN Ghana Foundation is the corporate social responsibility (CRS) arm of MTN Ghana, the leading telecoms services provider in the country.

Madam Amoah was recently featured prominently on the ongoing season IV of the MTN Heroes of Change.

Areas for further assistance

She said: “We have a very bad electricity problem. We are surrounded by heavy bushes, and there is no light on the path from here to the town. So, we need electricity in our home to ensure that our children move freely”.

On transportation, Madam Amoah lamented: “A good Samaritan bought a bus for us from UK and shipped it to us for orphanage use, which is to carry the kids to school and church, then back. Though I was not supposed to pay anything at the port for the bus, the officials at the port insisted I give them something, which was GHC 26,000 or else there were going to auction it”.

“They auctioned it and insisted my donor gives them the documents to the bus which he refused till date. So, if the kids have to go to school, they walk two and half hours before they get to the school. Days that I have money, I hire a trotro to convey them”, Madam Amoah said while in tears.

She continued that most of the kids at the Royal Seed Home had special health problems which needed  to be attended to, but there were no funds.

” A two- month old baby boy has a hole in his throat and we need over GHC12,000 for surgery , but again we don’t have money”.

“The children sleep under tents in mosquito nets in the open because there is no roof . I am yet to finish paying for the land we are occupying. I have people who are helping me here who need to be paid. I have uncompleted structures here that need to be completed for the kids to sleep in”.

From the above, Madam Amoah needs  more  resources as well as support to enable her solve these challenges. So, if she wins the GHC 100,000 ultimate prize of the MTN Heroes of Change, it will go a long way to help in addressing them.

Besides, the fame, the award will greatly motivate her to keep changing the lives. Madam Amoah therefore needs your vote to win the ultimate prize. You can do so by texting her short code name (Naomi) to 1406.
