Alan Kyeremanteng, Minister of Trade and Industry, Ghana

Accra, March 3, 2018//-The National Coordinator of  One District One Factory (1D1F) Programme, Mrs. Gifty Ohene-Konadu is confident that the Ghana government would deliver the entire 216 factories and more in each district within its four-year mandate.

According to her, five factory proposals under the government’s One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) initiative has received the full financial cover to start.

They include the Yeji Tree Stump Project in the Volta Region, funded by GCB Bank to process stump into charcoal for export, and the Atebubu Amantin Cassava Project located in the Brong Ahafo being sponsored by Standchart Bank to process cassava into ethanol and starch.

The rest are the Begoro Cassava Project in the Eastern Region being financed by Exon Bank, and Adaklu Cassava Project in the Volta Region that would both focus on processing cassava into ethanol and starch for export while the Ekumfi Pineapple Factory Project located in the Central Region being bankrolled by the Exon Bank.

Mrs Ohene-Konadu said this at the 3rd day of the ongoing 22nd International Trade Fair Business Seminar in Accra.

In addition, she said, last year, the 1D1F secretariat processed 65 other business factory proposals and submitted it to the various financial institutions for scrutiny, from their own perspective for consideration.

Dr. (Mrs) Agnes Adu, CEO of Ghana Trade Fair Company, on her part  said, the company has put up a Management Team that would see to all the situations on the ground to resurrect the facility and put it back on its feet and even upgrade it to be better than its former state in the next five years.

The even sought to bring together over 600 exhibitors, investors, entrepreneurs and financial institutions in the country and across the globe. And Dr. Adu expressed her excitement for the presence of delegations from Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Gambia, Italy and Germany, participating in the fair which would enable local firms in the country to link up with them.

Also a business seminar has been held for all 300 and over entrepreneurs, developers and investors to help them to better interact and connect with various sources of funding available in the banks.

However, she said, the President of the republic would be visiting the fair on Tuesday March 6. It would also be climaxed with an Ntoma dinner dance, with Mrs. Rebecca Akufo Addo as the special guest of honour.
