Accra, July 28, 2017//-Credible information reaching African Eye Report indicate that Policemen and National Security personnel have raided the home of former Deputy Minister of Power John Abu Jinapor on Friday morning in connection with the 2015 AMERI deal.

“This morning just when I was leaving my house for parliamentary duties, 5 police men, two of them fully armed with AK 47, raided my house in search of what they claim are documents related to the Ameri contract……..”Mr Jinapor who is also the Member of Parliament for  Yapei Kusawgu in the Northern Region said.

This raid follows similar raid on the home of his boss- the former Minister for Power, Dr Kwabena Donkor. In case of Dr Donkor, his home was ransacked by personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday morning.

The CID was searching for evidence implicating the former minister in financial loss to the State, as a result of his involvement in the AMERI deal.

The 300MW emergency power contract was secured in 2015 by the John Mahama administration to fix severe power challenges at the time after it received Parliamentary approval.

However, following a publication by a Norwegian newspaper about the deal, it was condemned for its $510 million price tag as analysts say Ghana could have secured the same deal at $150 million less.

The NDC Minority in Parliament condemned the raid on the residence of Dr. Donkor and alleged that the move was carefully engineered by the Akufo-Addo administration to silence opposition critics.
