Ghana: India Launches Activities to Celebrate “Freedom  70”

FreedomAccra, Ghana//-The Indian High Commission in Accra launched the celebration and organisation of Indian cultural performances across countries all over the world.

The country is celebrating the anniversary with Indian cultural performances across countries which have diplomatic relations with it.

The anniversary performance dubbed “Freedom 70,” which is being organised under the aegis of India’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration would showcase the multifaceted aspects of Indian Culture and public diplomacy aimed at strengthening bilateral cultural relations with Ghana and countries across the globe.

Launching the “Freedom 70″ in Accra, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Birender Singh Yadav told journalists  at a press conference organised by the commission that the main focus of the event is to connect and enhance the perception of India in the minds of people and offer them a glimpse of the flavour and variety of Indian culture.

He  revealed: “To commemorate 70years of India’s independence and the diplomatic relations between India and Ghana, “Freedom 70” will be organised in Ghana from August 14 to 16”.

“We therefore look forward to Ghanaian citizens enjoying and appreciating the rich cultural diversity of India, which would be depicted through the various events being held under the “Freedom 70,” Mr Yadav said.

According to him, the event would be inaugurated in Ghana on the eve of the 71st Independence Day of India on August 14 2017 at the National Theatre in Ghana.

The event will be graced by the Anita Babu and Group which is set to perform the Oddisi Classical Dance.

The group will also perform at the India House on August 15 and in Tema on August 16, 2017, the Indian Envoy added.

Mr Yadav used the occasion to express his appreciation to the Ghanaian government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts for their unflinching support and cooperation.
