Accra, March 2, 2018//-The Greater Accra Regional football chairman Edward Kormierteh Doku has indicated that the proposal from StarTimes to telecast Ghana Premier League games at some selected venues will not work.

News went widespread in the media last week in the aftermath of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League launch that, championship broadcast right holders StarTimes have selected some four matche venues which are television friendly to telecast the league games.

The proposal has since been met with fierce rejection by club chiefs and the outspoken Edward Doku, who doubles as an executive committee member of tye nation’s football governing body, has backed the clubs to reject the idea.

“Please it’s not feasible, its not happening, I get angry when I hear about that proposal from Star Times,” Doku told Oyerepa FM.

“Star Times cannot tell us what to do with our league,is it because of this meagre amount they giving us that’s why they want us to dance to their tune, its not possible.”

He commended the proposals by the firm to increase live game broadcast from 60 to 94 in the coming campaign.

“Their first proposal was to telecast 4 matches every week which is very laudable”.

He added, “The other proposal from StarTImes was that Aduana,All Stars, Bechem, Berekum Chelsea will play their home matches at Baba Yara Sports Stadium.”

“How do you justify this, football is played for the populace ,those in the society it will not wash,no it won’t.”

“At the meeting yesterday, I don’t know any EXCO Member who agreed to this ,it will not work my brother,” he concluded.

The start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League has been suspended indefinitely after Accra Great Olympics placed another injunction on the league.
