Chamber of Mines: We Remain Committed to Responsible Mining

Accra, May 31, 2017–Mining companies operating in Ghana have reaffirmed their commitment towards responsible mining in the country.

They made this known at a three-day Ghana Mining and Energy Summit underway in Accra.

In his opening address, the President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Kwame Addo Kufuor said: “We will continue to be the standard bearers of responsible mining in Ghana.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber, Sulemanu Koney was emphatic that the linkages in the mining sector would create jobs and reduce poverty in the country.

The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Madam Barbara Oteng-Gyasi added the government would manage the mining resources for the benefit of Ghanaians.

She assured the Chamber: “The ministry will continue to support the Chamber to stimulate investments in the mining sector”.
