Black Maidens Thrash Djibouti 9-0 in World Cup Qualifier

February 2, 2018//-Ghana’s ational U-17 women’s team, the Black Maidens, has secured a huge advantage going into the final match in the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Maidens beat their Djiboutian counterparts 9-0 in the first leg of the final qualifier played at the El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium on Friday.

The Djiboutian team had not kicked a ball going into the qualifier, having had a walkover against Libya and Tunisia.

Ghana, on the other hand, had beaten The Gambia 7-1 on aggregate to reach the final round of qualification.

The second leg of Friday’s game is scheduled to be played on Sunday, February 18.

Africa has three slots for the world cup, which will take place in Uruguay.

South Africa and Morocco as well as Nigeria and Cameroon are the other nations battling for the two places to represent the continent at the world cup.

So far, aside the hosts, North Korea, South Korea, Japan and New Zealand have booked their place at the world cup, which begins on 13 November.
